Madrigalit’s three “petite series”—M3, Madrigalite, and Madrigalix—have been drawn and adapted from this online journal. These special series are published on Medium, allowing us to share more stories more widely or tell some of the same tales in new ways.

Our series M3 is where we share three favorite things, be they shops, cafés, or ideas. Branding by Atelier Ravel Design

We created Madrigalia as a repository of literary texts, whether stories, essays, or general musings about what it means to be a writer in the world. On Madrigalia, readers will find our longer form articles and most of our fiction. We realized, though, that we had a few other stories to tell—related stories that strayed a bit from the focus of our main journal, such as film or music reviews, restaurant recommendations, and travel tips. We also wanted to sometimes create shorter adaptations of some of our Madrigalia offerings, for ease of reading for those on the go.

Madrigalite is a series designed for the ease of reading on the go. In this series, we explore general topics, most of them related to writing. Branding by Atelier Ravel Design

And so was born our “sister” site on Medium, which is easily accessed here and on all of the pages of our Madrigalit website (by clicking the Medium icon at the bottom of each page). We affectionately called our Medium site “Madrigalite,” which became the name of one of our three Medium journal’s series. Madrigalite is devoted to general topics, many about writing. Medium also houses our second series M3, which offers our selections of “three favorites” across many categories, including three great meals, three special spots, or three ideas about a topic. The notion is that we can be precise, in words and provisions, to give readers not just manageable recommendations or concepts, but, at least in our opinion, some of the very best offerings available—many of them still considered, at least tangentially, from our uniquely literary perspective. The third series, Madrigalix, features cultural contributions by our writer Jules X—it’s our one series that draws outside of the lines a little more, moving into other art forms beyond just the literary, with stories told in Jules’s unique style.

In Madrigalix, you’ll find writings that go outside the usual literary lines, including features on art, music, and more. Branding by Atelier Ravel Design

So, when you read a lengthier article in Madrigalia about, say, a literary destination, you can embellish the contents of that feature by reading related shorter texts on M3, like a snapshot of venues for great dinners nearby, a selection of beautiful spots in the city, or a trio of books to read in relation to the trip and its various sites. Likewise, an article on Medium about three literary spots in a place might link to a longer article, with more venues and supplemental material, on Madrigalia. We hope it is both informative and fun to move between these two online journals, to explore a diverse array of writings specially cultivated by the writers here at Madrigalit.

A Writer’s Life is a series included in our online journal, Madrigalia. We share stories, reflections, and assorted pieces of ephemera about what it means to be a writer and how our texts come to fruition.
